With my last babies swaddling was a must, if their arms were out they wouldn’t sleep. The problem is all I had was tiny blankets that made swaddling impossible because they would bust out of them seconds after they were put in so I would spend hours trying to get them swaddled. On top of that having to lug around receiving blankets, nursing covers, car seat covers and more I was going insane with all the blankets I would not only need to use but have to wash. Then I discovered aden+anais muslin swaddle blankets and it was like the heavens smiled down on me and angels starting singing, a blanket that could be used for all of the above and so much more. I received a four pack of the blankets for review and loved them so much I bought a second set so you will see both sets throughout this review in the pictures. I received the baby cakes swaddle collection for review and I bought the princess posie swaddle collection.
The generous sizing on these aden+anais swaddle blankets, 47 x 47, is crazy compared to the tiny receiving blankets, 30 x 30, that I bought before Kinley was born and I knew about the aden+anais swaddles. In the picture below you can see my friend Erin’s baby Molly laying next to Kinley on one of my aden+anais swaddle blankets and you can see that there is plenty of room on either side of the girl, as a matter of fact in this picture on Kinleys side you cannot even see the end of the blanket because there was that much extra and you can see it starting to double back on Molly’s side. I know that you can see the rug at the girls butts this is only because I had the blanket folded in half for them to lay on because I didn’t want the other kids running over it while the girls were laying on it.
One of the things that I absolutely love about the aden+anais swaddle blankets is that they are made of a 100% cotton muslin so when you first get them they seem a little rougher but with each wash you can feel them softening right up. When I got ours I washed them three times right away just because I love how soft they get. The muslin is a very breathable material so I find that even swaddled up on our hottest summer nights Kinley did not get warm in it.
The fabric’s light, open weave allows a baby’s body temperature to regulate itself naturally, helping to reduce the risk of overheating. It is gentle on baby’s skin and durable for everyday use. Traditionally used for swaddling, our wraps can also be used as burp cloths, nursing and stroller covers, portable crib sheets, stroller and car seat liners, tummy time blankets, change table covers, and more.
I have used mine for almost all the uses mentioned above and it stands up and does exactly what I need it to each time. I love using them as a nursing cover because it is big enough to give us lots of cover but breathable enough that I know she is not going to be a sweaty mess when I am done nursing her. Here is a quick collage of just a few pics I have snapped with my cell phone over the last few weeks of Kinley with her aden+anais blankets.
The swaddle blankets retail at $49.99 for a 4 pack and can be purchased on the aden+anais website. They have colors for girls, colors for boys and even some gender neutral colors/patterns. I also when writing this review discovered the b jeweled collection and I think I know what my next purchase is going to be the colors are absolutely gorgeous and if these would have been out when I was choosing my collection for review this would have been my choice.
If you don’t want to buy a four pack or just want to try them out before you purchase you can also buy a 2 pack for $32.00 although the selection is more limited but they do have an adorable camo one in the 2 pack. You can also buy singles for $22.00 so they do carry something for every budget.
Although I know my review did focus on the classic swaddle because this is what they have you can also get the swaddle blankets in organic, cozy and bamboo fashions all of which you can find on their website. aden+anais also carries much more then just the swaddle blankets on their website you will find sleeping bags, bibs and burp clothes, washcloths and towels, security blankets and even their mum+bub skin care line.
