Back in February Jessi was kind enough to invite me to participate in a Day Out with Thomas Mystery on the Rail Tour 2012. We attended this past weekend at the Railway Museum in Union, IL and had a great time as a family.
The Day Out With Thomas event was well organized, there was lots of staff available and since we arrived for the first train ride of the day crowds were manageable. They grew as the day went on and we were grateful to have arrived early in the day.
Our Day Out With Thomas
Ride on Thomas the Tank
We started with our train ride. My husband didn’t ride with us as he opted to stay with our six-month-old puppy. The children were disappointed, but my husband told them he’d been on lots of trains before.
There were lots of friendly, smiling clowns around Day Out With Thomas too. Our boys weren’t too thrilled, but our little ones enjoyed looking at them.
Bouncy House Fun
After our ride on Thomas the Tank we let the children choose an activity they wanted to do and they opted for five minutes in the Bouncy House. There were no lines when we went, but that changed as the day went on.
The Bouncy House warmed the children up for some fun at the train playground.
Street Car Ride
Union Railway Museum also has other trains, trolleys and streetcars to ride that were a part of the Day Out With Thomas ticket. Since my husband was unable to ride on Thomas with the children we opted to have him ride on a streetcar with them while I watched our pup.
Trains, Trains, Trains and More Trains
The Railway Museum has several buildings of trains from the past. We only went into one of them, but it is always interesting to learn how things were. It was very dark so our pictures did not turn out very well.
Activities for Kids
The whole Day Out With Thomas was geared towards families and their children. In addition to all I have mentioned so far, our children were also able to play mini golf, the first time for some of them and play in the sand pile. There was also a tent for washable tattoos but we opted to not do that. One of our children still has a Mike the Knight tattoo that hasn’t washed off yet!
Everyone in our family really enjoyed our Day Out With Thomas Mystery on the Rail Tour. We highly recommend it and hope to go again in the future.
I received five tickets to the Day Out With Thomas in Union, IL in exchange for writing a review. While I consider it a privilege to receive products to review, my review is my honest opinion and thoughts of the event. Special thanks goes out to Jessi for allowing me to attend this event for her blog.
