I am totally a kids furniture freak, I love anything cute, functional and durable. When I was given the chance to work with Guidecraft of course my answer was a resounding yes, when I was given options from the Pirate or the Noahs Ark collection I decided that the pirate one would work best for us and we would love to do the Pirate Collection Table & Chairs. When the package came in the mail with the table and chairs I was so excited, then when I saw the package my heart sunk and I nearly burst into tears right there. The end of the box had gotten wet and the end was missing off the box, I started to freak out and think oh no what kind of shape is this set in if the box looks like this.
As you can see the end is completely missing off the box and the box is pretty banged up which totally explains my panic. I had to
wait to tear it apart until the kids were napping because me trying to put anything together while they are awake generally ends in tragedy and me freaking out because they are not listening and leaving stuff alone and lost parts. So we waited until at least Holden was in bed and we started to pull it out of the box. Thankfully each piece was wrapped individually in a foam like wrap and wrapped in cardboard so I believe that it prevented any further damage then could have been. Kudos to Guidecraft for their great packing job. Now when we opened it we did have a couple of small problems, a few scratches on the table top, a crack in one of the table legs and a chip out of the red knob on one of the chairs. I immediately emailed Guidecraft and explained what happened and they are going to send me out replacement parts for the table and chairs so that we can fully enjoy it and I can ensure that it is all safe for the kids.

Once we got all the pieces unwrapped and layed out on the floor we got to work putting it together. There was quite a few pieces to it, 5 for the table, each chair was 6 pieces but it was very simple to put it all together despite the number of pieces. The set came with all the hardware it needed and it was all heavy duty hardware and nothing I would worry about becoming weak over time, and I know hardware since we do a lot of woodworking stuff in our household. It took us about 10 minutes to put the table together and that is only because we kept fighting over who got to use the screwdriver and allen keys haha. The chairs took a slight bit longer because there were so many more pieces and at that point I had
thrown my hands up and told Lee to do it himself if he couldn’t share the tools. He did say that he had some slight problems getting the bolt to line up when he was putting the back onto the rear legs but it was not a large issue and we were able to get the set together without needing to call in a divorce lawyer contractor. Lee is such a man when it comes to putting stuff together and says he does not need directions, I on the other hand read them from front to back before getting started and these were really great to follow, easy and nothing that made me scratch my head and call for help and even Maddisyn got in on the construction, ok not really but she looks like she is trying so I had to share the picture.

Once we got it all put together I was actually able to take the time to check out the table and chairs for myself and wow the paint job on this is amazing. The detail put into it is amazing and the table top is gorgeous looking like a treasure map with colorful characters, a pirate ship and sharks in the waters surrounding an island where X marks the spot with a black background and red border it looks just perfect. The chairs are the same blacka and white designs with a treasure chest on the seat and a pirate ship on a blue background on the chair back. While Holden is still a bit young for this Maddisyn absolutely loves it and eats most of her meals at it now and I can see this being something that both of my kids enjoy for years to come and I can also foresee my own grandkids, not anytime soon, using this as I feel the construction and parts of it are sturdy enough that it will last for years and can be a nice family heirloom. For 45 years Guidecraft has been providing schools with their amazing products and I am so happy that we can now use them in our own homes.
