Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian Readers

Yesterday was Thanksgiving here and so I just wanted to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.  Albeit a day late but we had a great day yesterday.

I have a tip for a stress free holiday meal if you are cooking.  Do it ALL ahead of time.  I was hosting dinner on Monday so on Sunday night I peeled and chopped the potatoes, carrots and sweet potatoes then put them in the pots on the stove in water overnight.  I then made my deviled eggs, with the deviled egg recipe I have here on my blog you are able to make them ahead of time without them going brown or yucky like normal eggs do.  I also made my orange salad the day before which of course is necessary and baked my pies.

Then on the day of the meal I got up early and cooked my turkey.  I knew it was going to be done 2-3 hours before supper and that was my plan, we took out the stuffing and mixed in the extra stuffing I made then put in an oven safe container, covered and popped back into my oven.  We then carved the turkey and laid it out on a cookie sheet with tinfoil and put that back in the oven too.  About an hour before dinner I made the sweet potatoes, mashed them up and put them in the oven too.  I washed all the dishes as I went.  Then all I had left to do was cook carrots and potatoes.  This all made my day very relaxing and stress free.  So if you feel dragged down from holiday meals I suggest you try this method you may feel less stressed too.

It also helps to have an adorable kitchen helper:
