I finally had time to sit down and test out the H&R block at home tax software, valued at $49.95. It was very easy to get started, I first created a new username (I had not previously used H&R Block). I had to enter my email address, a username, password and security question. I could have also just logged in using Facebook if I had chosen to do so, then I was ready to get started on my tax return. The very first thing it did was give me the option to import my tax return from 2011 if I used TurboTax, TaxACT or H&R Block, otherwise I was able to just skip the import.
Next step was to review our year and see if we had any life changes such as new baby, job-related, medical, new home, marital status etc. Then we went through the basics with personal information, dependent information, income, any adjustments and deductions I may be qualified for, taxes and then a Federal wrap up just to ensure everything was correct. The whole process for me to go through it was about 45 minutes which is not too long in my opinion.
With H&R Block online you get a maximum refund guarantee and there are tax experts available to help you with any problems that may arise. I highly recommend this as a solution to any tax preparation you may have, it may be an awesome alternative to lugging everything out of your home to file your taxes or using software your just not sure of how well it works.
