Potty training has never been so easy for me as it was for Holden. We went one day from diapers to big boy underwear in the daytime simply by getting him to pee on the potty once and celebrating the event by clapping, cheering and getting a special treat. Night time training on the other hand certainly has been hard for us. Holden is such a heavy night wetter and he doesn’t wake up so we still use pull ups at night time.
His daytime training did require that we reminded him when it was time for a potty break, especially if we were outside and heavily in play he would sometimes have accidents. Thanks to Pull-ups and the Potty Break we used our spare computer and opened up The Potty Break Timer, we would set the timer and Holden would keep checking to see when it was time to use the potty. After a day or two he got used to this and was constantly giving us trouble if the timer was not open and set on the computer.
On top of the timer Holden was also able to get a character call from one of his favorites Mater, his face through the whole call was priceless and when he got off he ran up to his sister and asked her did you hear that Nay-Nay (his pet name for Maddisyn). I think that call is going to help Holden with his outdoor missing the bathroom things we have going on. I am hoping that by Mater talking about leaving the party for a potty break Holden can apply that with encouragement from us to his everyday play.
I highly recommend you to check out The Potty Break by Pull-Ups and try to apply it to potty training with a character call from either Mater or Cinderella. You can also find some other great potty training tips on the Pull-Ups Potty Break website.
