Well.ca Review & Giveaway

Well.ca is Canada’s largest online health & beauty store.  They are set apart from other companies because their company consists of caring, knowledgable, friendly customer service reps who WANT to go the extra mile for customers.  Customer Care is the core of their business, they strive to give their customers the best shopping experience possible.  Well.ca is located in Guelph, Ontario which is a few hours away from me.
Taken from the site:
In September of 2007, from a small closet in the back of his dad’s pharmacy, a University of Waterloo graduate started up an online company. Ali Asaria started Well.ca after seeing an opportunity to give customers the convenience of shopping online for drugstore products. Over its few short years, the company has grown at an incredible speed, making the Profit Hot 50 list as one of the fastest growing companies in Canada in September 2009!

Today, Well.ca offers a wide range of products to Canadians and Americans, making it Canada’s largest online health and beauty store. With an attitude of best serving customer needs through friendly service, Well.ca hopes to maintain the small-company attitude as it continues to grow.

I contacted Well.ca for the possibility of review.  The reason I contacted them was because I wanted to bring to my readers an online drugstore that carries an extensive range of products, especially my Canadian readers.  I live in a smaller community and so sometimes it is hard to find items in our local drugstore I am looking for at a reasonable price such as thermometers, it seems everytime I find one I like the store is sold out.  The first thing I got out of my contact with Well.ca was caring, quick response.  They were more then happy to send me an item for review and were very quick in each contact I had with them and the review item arrived very fast.

We received the Vicks Underarm Thermometer from Well.ca and unfortunatly only a few days after we got it we got the chance to put it to real use in our daily lives.  Chase and Lee both got sick and while Chase got over it the next day Lee is still battling fever and aches.  We opened up the Vicks Underarm Thermometer and put it to immediate use.  The response time on this was only 30 seconds which would make it perfect for a toddler who does not want to sit still.  Lets face it who can keep a thermometer under a 2 yr olds tongue for any period of time, I know I cannot anymore then I want to have to do rectal temps.  This is a great alternative to both without the high cost of a thermometer such as a temporal one.

Chase used this under his arm at the exact same time he used one in his mouth, the Vicks one finished first and both had the exact same temperatures which means to me that it is spot on.  Keep in mind that you need to add half a degree to the temp that the underarm thermometer comes up with to make it even with oral temperature and a full degree to make it even with rectal temp.  Lee went next with the same, one under his arm and one in his mouth and they too came up the same so yay it really does work as promised and was tested on two people.

The part that goes under your arm is so comfortable you barely know it is not there and it is not at all intrusive.  It has a large LCD and beeps when the reading is ready, and has a memory function to recall the last temperature taken.  Most importantly it has a waterproof sensor which makes it very easy to clean after each use.  The Vicks Underarm Thermometer is the winner of the 2004 IDSA and MDEA deisgn awards.

This thermometer is extremely affordable at only $17.49 CDN or $16.20 USD.  It is currently sold out on the site at the time of this writing but they have a convinent options in which you can enter your email address and receive an email notification when it is available again.
